Phlebectomy
Definition and post-treatment advice
Outpatient Phlebectomy
The Clinique Pierre Larose offers specialized medical care for venous health. After a consultation at one of our clinics, our team can provide various treatments to eliminate varicose veins based on your situation.
When veins are too large for sclerotherapy, we can perform an outpatient phlebectomy. This technique can also be used in combination with an endovenous radiofrequency ablation treatment.
How Is an Outpatient Phlebectomy Performed?
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia. The dilated vein is extracted using a special hook for removal through a tiny incision. The number of incisions required varies depending on the extent of venous disease.
Phlebectomy in Three Steps
1. A hook is inserted through a tiny incision
2. The vein is hooked
3. The vein is pulled out
Post-Treatment Advice
Most patients can resume their daily activities the day after a phlebectomy. However, it is recommended to avoid intense physical efforts and to wear compression stockings to promote circulation and reduce inflammation.
A phlebectomy is an effective procedure to eliminate varicose veins. However, recurrences can occur over time. Regular follow-ups are essential to monitor progress and maintain optimal results.
